Your Health Care May Decide The 2008 Election
Robert Borosage writes: "Americans will begin to tune into the election again around the conventions. And in the fall, they'll start to take a closer look at who the candidates are and what they believe. Iraq will be big no doubt; the economy bigger. But health care may just be the pothole that cracks up Sen. John McCain's Straight Talk Express."
The Disgrace of Wall Street
Bill Moyers talks to William Greider, Washington correspondent for The Nation who works from the Campaign for America's Future offices, about the breakdown of morality and fairness among our financial institutions. "People of great wealth and their institutions like banks naturally have the power to overwhelm people of lesser means. And you can't allow that in a decent society. It won't survive," he says. But he adds that "we have an opening in this crisis for a deep transformation in American politics."
Drilling for Oil Is Not the Answer
Why is Bush the most unpopular president in the history of political polling? Maybe it’s because he thinks Americans are fools. Last Monday, Bush signed an executive order to reverse his 7½ year policy against oil drilling in some offshore areas, falsely suggesting that it will help lower the soaring price of gasoline. Bush’s flip-flop on offshore drilling is just the latest attempt to divert attention from the conservatives’ failed energy policies.
